A very wise fellow (with impeccable taste) recently commissioned me to do a painting of a snail. This is what I came up with.
4" x 6" cel vinyl acrylic on watercolor paper.

Again, best of luck man!
Wow! You're constantly improving in leaps and bounds, Pumml. Keep up the great work.
Sa-sa-sweet!
P.S. where do you buy your cel vinyl from?
awesome work, Drake! The dry brush on the shells turned out great...really adds to the feeling of the piece.
You guys made my day. Thanks for the comments!
Thanks, Patrick!
Steve, that means a lot coming from you... much appreciated!
Andy - Thanks! I buy cel vinyl from cartooncolour.com. You can't go wrong.
Thanks, Ian! The shells were fun to experiment on.
Very cute! I love the colors you used.
That's lovely! I like the way the colors glow through the textures.
Yeah, those shells just pop off the canvas. Great job.

Thank you kindly Aurore, Zenne, Don and Adele!
HI,
I recently found ur Blog! You have a few magnificent works!!!
I'll keep visiting you ;)
Hello,my name is Marcio Freitas and I'm from Brazil. Actually I'm studying some art drawing techniques and I have a question about the backgrounds paint. Do you use vinyl acrylic in your works, right?
What's exactly vinyl acrylic? It's a kind of paint used in the wall?
Congratulations for your very well done work, it's quite amazing to admirate it.
Thank you!!!
Thanks, Scorpio and Marcio!
The paint is cel vinyl acrylic. Definitely not the kind of paint you'd paint your house with. It's the paint that old cartoons used to paint on cartoon acetate cels and backgrounds (some still use it for bgs). Available here.
I love the texture on the snails shell!!! GREAT, GREAT job!
Thank you, Sandra! I love your work!
Wow, this is great. I've started painting again (again) myself but now I don't want to post it after this one.
Great Scott Wills post too!
great blog Drake. You paint like one of these old school guys. I love it.
Peace,
Joe y Elio
