Here are some lovely backgrounds from Samurai Jack episode 1 to 3, aka: the premiere movie. I'm pretty sure they were designed by Dan Krall and painted by Scott Wills. Once again, these images are copyright Cartoon Network and Genndy Tartakovsky.

Samurai Jack Backgrounds (titles)
Here's some of the bonus surprise I mentioned! I've gone to a little effort to bring you some screen captures of backgrounds from one of my most favorite cartoons ever... Samurai Jack! I was frustrated by all the talk of the great, hand-painted backgrounds from the show, but very few examples online. I feel they are such a huge part of the show and as such, deserve better exposure. In this first installment, we have some select bgs from the title sequence. If I've done my homework, I believe they were painted by the great Bill Wray and designed by Genndy Tartakovsky and Dan Krall. These images are copyright Cartoon Network, Genndy Tartakovsky, and crew. This post is also timely, because it was recently announced that the fourth and final season of Samurai Jack is being released on DVD August 28th! It's about time. Please enjoy! More Samurai Jack backgrounds to come in the near future...
EDIT: Bill Wray painted all but the bottom one, which is Scott Wills. Thanks, Bill!

Doodling
Here are some recent doodles from a little Canson sketchbook I've been carrying around lately. I decided not to use pencil at all in this little sketchbook, but to just think of something and ink it, to get more comfortable inking. I've mostly been using Pitt brush pens for these.
An angry boss guy, inspired by some Tim Biskup characters.
A fist.
Tree in Queen Anne.
Bus people (the bus ride was a bit shakey).
Hand carved mirror trim in a bar.
Samurai Jack.
My niece Milena turned 6 this weekend. She loves fairies, so I drew this with a Raphael Sable #2 and some Higgins black magic ink on 6" x 9" watercolor paper.
And here we are pulling silly faces.
Coming up next: Super bonus surprize!

Arrr Matey
Here's something I whipped up for my niece's 3 year birthday. She's really into Nemo, so her mom asked me to make a large poster to play pin-the-tail on. It would have been expensive to print at Kinko's, so instead it was just printed on a regular color printer.
I tried to make the pencils clean and dark, to make scanning and live tracing in Illustrator come out better.
Live traced in Illustrator and colored in Flash.
Below are some crappy photos of the blocks I had custom made and I painted for an Ninja themed art show/event in 2005. They are solid 4" cubes painted with acrylic, before I got cel vinyl, which is much better! I used the cel vinyl on those munnies in a previous post. Sorry if you've seen them before, I've posted them elsewhere too.
Coming up: New doodles (surprises still on the way).
