Santa showed up and finished another painting for me while I slept. What a nice fellow! He did an okay job, so I let him watch my new Blade Runner final cut DVDs (all 5 of them). So if he didn't visit your house, you know why. Sorry kids! If it makes you feel any better, he played with the toy flying car that came in the box set too much and made the door loose.
Yes, I'm delirious from lack of sleep.
This one is for my sister in law. It depicts her adorable daughters dressed up as animals and frolicking on a flower-covered hillside.
4" x 6" cel vinyl on watercolor paper.
And now... Merry Happy Holiday Crimbo Xmas all! I still have a backlog of these paintings to finish over the next couple weeks, so look for those to start appearing soon.

Christmas Painting #6
"We must be strong and brave. Our home we have to save..."
Since my last painting was of a unicorn, I needed to offset the cuteness with some Battleship Yamato (Starblazers) for my brother in law. This one was a blast to work on. I experimented with a triple-step wet-on-wet wash for the space background (first time playing with washes) and some spattering with a toothbrush for the stars (first time playing with spattering technique). I had the ship and planet masked out with frisket. After finishing the space portion, I peeled off the frisket from the planet and painted it using some dry brushing. I then blocked in the ship outlines in black and filled in the middle value flat colors. After that it was just a matter of putting in the shadows and highlights. I was going to post process pics, but got rolling on the painting and forgot to capture all the steps. If you want to see the ones I took, lemme know and I'll post them up.
Enough blabbing, here's the painting.

4am. Time for some sleep and then onto the next one! If you don't stop by again before the 25th, Merry Crimbo!

Christmas Painting #5
This one is just for me, because I love unicorns. They're so magical! Their horns are said to cure poison, and kill their natural enemy in the wild, sharks.
It's actually for my niece Alyssa, who will be four in January. 4" x 6" cel vinyl acrylic on watercolor paper, as usual.
All the kiddies are taken care of for Christmas! Now for their parents.

Christmas Painting #4
Here's the latest in the Christmas present series. This is for my 9 year old niece who loves hippos and ballet. I've fallen off pace a little because I've been busy, but hopefully I can pick it up on this final week before xmas! At least I plan to have all the kiddies taken care of. Some of the parents might have to wait.
BTW, there's a level of sponged-in bushes that my scanner didn't pick up. When I get these paintings professionally shot I'll put the proper color versions up.

Christmas Painting #3
Thanks for being patient! I went out of town to visit my mommy on her birthday. Here's a new one for my niece who loves pirates... so I turned her into a cartoony one. Not a 100% happy with it, but I still had a lot of fun painting this, especially the water.
More to come!

Christmas Painting #2
Here's another. This one is for my 2 year old niece, Ashley. She's fascinated by the moon and always tries to grab it with her little hand. Her depth perception is WAY OFF. :)

Christmas Painting
Here's a new one. 4" x 6" cel-vinyl acrylic on watercolor paper. It's one of 18 Christmas paintings I'm doing for family members. Due to the radiant colors I used for the background, my scanner couldn't capture it properly, so here's a crappy photo of it (which is closer to the correct colors) and the scan. I'm banking that my 6 year old niece doesn't check this blog...
